JOB DESCRIPTION
The Accounting Production Analyst performs all production accounting functions with limited supervision. This professional is responsible for providing production data used for operational, commercial and regulatory activities. This individual will be a hands-on, self-motivated, highly organized and creative professional which has significant involvement in oil and gas exploration and production and coordinates with other departments in resolving complex production accounting intricacies. The Production Analyst assists with developing production accounting policies and may function as a trainer for lower level staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain or create a system set-up to reflect the physical flow of production.
- Sets up new wells and equipment, monitors and corrects daily volume allocations by communicating production data complexities with field personnel, provides accurate and timely gathering, processing, and uploading of monthly production data, prepares volume reports for monthly accruals, processes volume re-allocations based upon plant revisions and other volumetric sources, performs basic production analysis, and reconciles volume discrepancies with accounting in time for their monthly close.
- Prepares and files accurate and timely monthly regulatory reports to appropriate state and federal agencies.
- Responsible for responding to state and federal regulatory agencies to resolve audits, inquiries, and disputes. Fulfills data requests, review and recalculation of production volumes, re-filing of wells involved in federal unit expansions or Communitization agreements, and re-filing reports with regulatory authorities.
- Interfaces with field operations, engineering, accounting, and land staffs to aid in set up of wells, reconcile volumes, resolve complex production accounting issues, trouble shoot data flow or incomplete data, perform volumetric balancing, explain production variances, transmit data, and comply with interdepartmental processes to ensure production accounting is complying with all Company procedures. Support production analysis reports requested by Operations and Management.
- Lead in training and development of production staff.
- Interpret, document, and implement production recording process documentation, procedures, and electronic production records policies and evaluate and maintain on an ongoing basis.
- As needed or requested, handle other activities and special projects to support well operations, audits, and accounting obligations along with operations and management reports.

Education, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- College or university program degree preferred; or 6+ years related experience and/or training in oil and gas production accounting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- In-depth knowledge of P2 Merrick suite of products preferred: ProCount, Carte, Field Operator, PetroRegs. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook and intermediate level Microsoft Excel; SQL and Microsoft Access proficiency preferred.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of production accounting. Comprehension, experience, and ability to apply regulatory guidelines and interpretations to federal and state agencies.
- Highly analytical, and overall ability to thoroughly understand issues and foresee complexities. Experience working in a continuously changing environment.
- Takes ownership, pays attention to detail, and accepts the initiative to take on additional work if necessary.
- Ability to display a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment to effectively manage projects, prioritize deliverables in order to meet deadlines, use time efficiently, and improve efficiencies.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries from managers, vendors, interest owners and regulatory agencies. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

COMPENSATION
- The compensation range for this position is $97,583-$123,365. Our compensation structure reflects the comparable market pay rate for positions at companies similar in size, revenue generation and geographic location; in addition to individual factors including seniority, performance-based merit, education/training and experience related to scope of responsibilities.
