SUMMARY
Primary responsibility is to handle field engineering operations assignments related to production, completions and facilities of a broad scope and of moderate difficulty. The engineer will coordinate with discipline teams and/or technical professionals to support the completion and production of wells to ensure they are aligned with the business objectives. The scope of the position includes costs estimates, AFE preparation and execution of all completions, recompletions, coiled tubing mill-outs/clean-outs, workovers, snubbing operations, plug and abandonments. AFE and LOE actual vs estimate review. May mentor less experienced engineers or engineering techs on fundamentals and supervise technical work. A large portion of this role includes leadership positions on team and projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Identify critical needs and issues to develop specific well completion designs and alternatives for consideration. Analysis of historical company and industry completion designs are crucial in providing recommendations
- Work with reservoir engineers and geologists in development of completion design and procedures
- Identify hazards, best practices, evaluate state of the art equipment and practices, and incorporate sound engineering practices for the design and execution of all new well completions and recompletions
- Provide AFE cost estimates for completions and workover operations
- Assist in supervising the execution of well completion operations to ensure safety, quality and cost control
- Analyze completions, offset well performance and prepare written AFE justification
- Develop good relationships with and effectively manage equipment contractors and suppliers (including bidding of cost for services)
- Support Business Development and Reservoir engineering in the preparation of scoping cost estimates for acquisitions and the budget and planning processes
- Frequent onsite supervision of completion and production operations
- On call support, including nights and weekends may be required for field locations
- Conduct business with the highest ethical standards; demonstrate decision-making skills that ensure the safety of all Laramie personnel and contractors
- Support day-to-day field operations with technical knowledge
- Create AFE’s and well maintenance procedures to increase production and/or decrease operating expenses
- Monitor production and expenses to identify problems and potential areas for improvement
- Plan and execute workovers in the field as needed
- Work independently of and in cooperation with the production department to identify upside and generate capital projects
- Perform lookback economic analysis in ARIES for Capex and Opex projects review
- Travel as necessary to accomplish the above tasks
- Other completion and productions duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
COMPETENCIES
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:
- Proficient level of skill in Microsoft Office. Experience with Wellview or similar software is a plus. Exposure or familiarity with industry software for modeling and data analysis. Technical skills that allow easy adaptation to company specific software and other necessary related specific applications (FracPro, ARIES, CYGNET, Carte & Spotfire).

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Proficient understanding of unconventional resource plays regarding completion design and execution.
- Proficient technical knowledge and operational experience required in horizontal well completions engineering.
- Proficient technical knowledge and operational experience with coiled tubing operations in horizontal wells.
- Experience with field operations, workovers, surface facilities, and artificial lift
- Strong communication skills for correspondence with company management, field personnel and service providers
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- BS degree in Engineering is required, emphasis in Petroleum Engineering preferred
- Minimum 6 years’ experience preferred; Relevant experience associated with upstream Oil & Gas Operations
LANGUAGE AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information to management.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form.

- Valid Colorado driver’s license
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Less than 20% travel may be required for mandatory meetings or training. A company pool vehicle will be made available for all travel events.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMAND
Work is typically performed indoors in an office environment. Incumbents must be able to perform work which includes typing, sitting and standing. If incumbent visits operations worksite, personal protection equipment, including head protection, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, and flame-resistant clothing is required. Safety rules including OSHA and DOT requirements are strictly enforced. Employees must be willing to travel, and work extended hours on short notice.
